Portfolio

A list of some projects and websites I've lately worked on. It is in no way a comprehensive one, just some of the work I've done over the past few years. For each of the projects I try to give a summary of my involvement and responsibilities. Most of the projects highligted were built on drupal as a primary web engine.

Outpitview

A small slideshow gallery of a talented photographer. A temporary, placeholder website, until the full CMS is implemented. I implemented the design and js slideshow code. I advise on the CMS development.

Piazza Sempione

Piazza Sempione is an Italian fashion label. The project was an international collaboration lead by Insana. I was a sub-contractor on the project to build the new Drupal based website. Some of the highlights - a front-page wall built using jQuery & views, user - content recommender, integration with facebook... The project involved a custom module development, and a bespoke theme, spiced up with a lot of jQuery magic.

I*PROMS Network of Excellence

The Innovative Production Machines and Systems (I*PROMS) Network of Excellence is a large EC funded project coordinated by Cardiff University. The main objective of the project was to coordinate and itighten the research integration of 30 partner research organisations from all around Europe. My job on the central coordination team was to design, develop and subsequently maintain the IT infrastructure of the project, including websites, video/web conferencing, mailing lists. I was sitting of the I*PROMS conference organising committee.

The I*PROMS website was developed using Drupal. The original visual design was by Blacksheep ltd, but it had to be heavily modified by me to turn it into a drupal template, suitable for the specific need of the network. I developed a number of I*PROMS specific add-on modules. One of them, docs, was deemed general enough for upload to drupal contrib, now deprecated for lack of interest and time on my side.

IPROMS Conference

The I*PROMS conference is an on-line (virtual) conference organised by the I*PROMS network. The web design is visually based on the I*PROMS theme. The back-end is Drupal. The paper submissions website is based on a customised openconf. I've written a openconf to drupal bridge for automatic synchronisation of paper submissions. During the years, there were quite a few experiments on what is a better way to run an event like this. I've developed a number of custom modules, for example book nodes to S3 presentations, open-conf topics to forum modules and more.

4M Network of Excellence and 4M association

Similar to I*PROMS, the MultiMaterial MicroManufacture Network of Excellence was an EC network, aiming to integrate and coordinate research in micro and nano manufacturing in 30 European research organisations.

My job on the management team was to lead the design, devlopment and subsequently maintenance the IT infrastructure of the project, including websites, video/web conferencing, mailing lists. I was involved as well in the organisation of the 4M conference (2005-2009).

From early 2009, I was involved in the setting up of the 4M association, a non-profit body to continue the work of the network. I've designed and developed the association website.

Manufacturing in FP7 conference

fp7manufacturing

As part of my work for I*PROMS, I helped organize the yearly (2007-2009) Manufacturing in FP7 Conferences. Part of the job was to design and develop the conference website. The back end is Drupal. The theme is an of my original design

Nanoaccess@cardiff

The MEC, Cardiff University was awarded a grant by the EPSRC under the programme Access to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology equipment to provide the academic research base in the UK with free access, for the period of 1st October 2008 to 30th September 2012. I was asked to develop and design a brochure website for the nanoaccess@cardiff project , where we could showcase the available equipment and subsequently publish interesting case studies.
